From Russia With Love

For some people, it’s the Superbowl, for others it’s the Stanley Cup Playoffs, for me, it’s the Olympics.  As a kid, back in the last millennium, I remember watching with avid fascination ABC’s Wide World of Sports.  And when it was time for Olympic coverage my entire family was glued to the set (back in the 70’s and early 80’s ABC covered the Olympics, before NBC picked it up in the late 80’s) .  In 2002, I was lucky enough to attend the Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.  My husband and I went to opening ceremonies, saw figure skating, and sat right behind the bench in the Latvian and Slovakian ice hockey match!  We could actually SMELL the game!  (yuk!) It wasn’t bad seeing Dave Mathews live and attending the Dale Chihuly exhibit either!  My Olympic fever has not waned over the years and it’s so exciting to see some of Steamboat’s own athletes off to Russia this week.  (Go for the GOLD’s!) In honor of it all I am hosting an Opening Ceremonies Party for my family and a few friends!  I thought you might like some ideas of how to celebrate by offering up a couple of recipes and my menu for the evening!  Below is the menu and I will post some of the recipes this week leading up to the opening ceremonies in Sochi on Friday, February 7th!  Enjoy! Da!?
